Novalis

Novalis, poeta tedesco (1771 - 1801) Il suo nome era Friedrich Leopold von Hardenberg, nacque in una famiglia nobile dedita al pietismo, una corrente religiosa che si opponeva al luteranesimo, giusta ma severa, studiò filosofia e matematica, si innamorò platonicamente di Sophie von Kühn, un'adolescente che morì a soli 15 anni e a cui dedicò la sua raccolta poetica "Hymnen an die Nacht" (Inni alla notte).

Con il suo delicato linguaggio mistico venato di malinconia Novalis fu un precursore dei poeti Romantici tedeschi

"Noi sogniamo di viaggi per l'universo:

ma l'universo non è forse dentro di noi?

Noi non conosciamo gli abissi del nostro spirito.

La via segreta che conduce all'interno.

In noi, e in nessun altro luogo,

sta l'eternità con i suoi mondi, il passato e il futuro.

Il mondo esterno è il mondo delle ombre,

e getta le sue ombre nel regno della luce"

Novalis, German poet (1771 - 1801) His name was Friedrich Leopold von Hardenberg, he was born into a noble family devoted to Pietism, a religious current opposed to Lutheranism, righteous but strict, studied philosophy and mathematics, and platonically fell in love with Sophie von Kühn, a teenager who died when was only 15 years old and to whom he dedicated his poetic collection "Hymnen an die Nacht" (Hymns to the Night).

With his delicate mystical language tinged with melancholy Novalis was a forerunner of the German Romantic poets

"We dream of journeys through the universe:

but is not the universe within us?

We do not know the depths of our spirit.

The secret way that leads to the interior.

Within us, and nowhere else,

lies eternity with its worlds, the past and the future.

The outer world is the world of shadows,

and casts its shadows in the realm of light."
